CHAMPS Summer 2025: The Official Video Blueprint
Our Game Plan for Complete Coverage
Mission Briefing
This document outlines our complete strategy for the CHAMPS Summer 2025 show. The goal is to learn from past experiences and elevate our production value significantly. We are creating two distinct projects: the definitive "Every Booth, Every Product" (EBEP) series and a separate, story-driven "CHAMPS Documentary." This plan ensures we capture everything we need for both, with a focus on narrative, quality, and efficiency.
Key Logistics & Info
- Event: CHAMPS Trade Show Summer 2025
- Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
- Filming Days: Wednesday, July 23 - Friday, July 25, 2025
- DAY 1 MEETUP:
-
[cite_start]
- Time: 10:30 AM [cite: 1] [cite_start]
- Purpose: This gives us a 30-minute window to wait in line, get our passes, and hold a final briefing before the show floor opens at 11:00 AM[cite: 2].
Roles & Responsibilities
Cameramen (The Two of You)
Your primary mission is executing the perfect, consistent shot for every booth to build the foundation of the EBEP series. Your knowledge of the desired shot is crucial. You are also responsible for directing the on-camera action.
Mic Holders / Hosts
Your role is to be the on-screen talent for the EBEP series and the main subjects for the documentary. You will engage with vendors, drive the narrative, and be the audience's guide through the show.
Project 1: The "Every Booth, Every Product" (EBEP) Series
This is our comprehensive walkthrough for the hardcore audience. It must be thorough and easy to navigate.
EBEP Shot Protocol (For Every Booth)
-
[cite_start]
- Aisle Introduction: Hosts MUST record a clear intro at the start of each new aisle (e.g., "Alright, we're going into the 2000s now")[cite: 177, 318].
- Establish the Booth: Get a wide shot of the entire booth setup.
- The Product Sweep: The core footage. A steady, detailed sweep of all products on display. [cite_start]
- Get the Info: Film a business card, flyer, or banner with the company's website and social media info[cite: 220].
- Prompt a Demo: The cameraman should actively direct the vendor or host to "Show me this product." [cite_start]Get them to open packaging and display it for the camera[cite: 309]. [cite_start]
- Host Interaction: The host asks the three standard questions: "Who are you? What company is this? How do we get your product?" [cite: 28]
Post-Production Masterstroke: The 'Reaction' Edit
[cite_start]To make the 17-hour EBEP series engaging, the final edit will feature us in a picture-in-picture window providing live commentary as we watch the footage[cite: 226, 288]. This allows us to:
-
[cite_start]
- Add humor, context, and backstory to quiet moments[cite: 227]. [cite_start]
- Pause, rewind, and highlight interesting or funny details[cite: 228]. [cite_start]
- Rate salesperson performance and share insights we couldn't say live[cite: 311, 312].
Project 2: The "CHAMPS Documentary"
This is a separate, shorter, highly-edited video with a clear story. It's designed for a broader audience.
[cite_start]The Narrative: "Two rival crews race to film every booth at CHAMPS while simultaneously competing to find the single 'Coolest Weed Accessory' at the show"[cite: 144, 153].
How to Capture the Documentary:
-
[cite_start]
- The Competition: Team A vs. Team B. When a crew finds a contender for the "Coolest Accessory," they must capture detailed shots and record a talking head explaining their choice[cite: 153]. [cite_start]The doc can end by asking the audience to vote on the winner[cite: 144]. [cite_start]
- "The Office" Style Talking Heads: We need to capture both planned interviews (at the start/end of day) and spontaneous reactions to events on the show floor[cite: 94].
- B-Roll & Candid Moments: Film EVERYTHING. [cite_start]Getting badges, crew interactions, lunch breaks, signs of exhaustion[cite: 117]. [cite_start]Everyone should be "sneak filming" the rest of the crew to capture authentic moments[cite: 253].
Daily Game Plan
Day 1 & 2 (Wed, July 23 / Thurs, July 24) - "The Grind"
- Focus on executing the EBEP Shot Protocol flawlessly.
- Simultaneously capture all necessary elements for the Documentary Narrative. [cite_start]
- Interview attendees waiting in line to get their pre-show expectations[cite: 108].
Day 3 (Fri, July 25) - "Wrap-Up & Bonus Content"
- Finish any remaining EBEP filming. [cite_start]
- Conduct "Exit Interviews" with attendees leaving the show to get their final thoughts[cite: 32]. [cite_start]
- Film extended interviews with pre-selected friendly brands (e.g., Smoke Trap) for the documentary[cite: 34].
- CRITICAL: Film the "Reaction" commentary footage back at the hotel/studio. [cite_start]This is essential for the EBEP edit[cite: 232].
